The project vision for Prairie View High School was clear: to craft spaces that inspired students to explore the full spectrum of their career pathways through dynamic CTE programs and classes. The new building was strategically placed near the existing school to ensure safe, seamless access for students – a key factor in site selection and analysis.
The building organized the career programs around a central main street, allowing for visibility and connection into each of the CTE pathways and creating an energized hub of student activity and a building that was easy to supervise. The building and main entry location were sited to maximize visibility from 120th Street and the main vehicular access to the campus.
The building embraced the materials and form of the existing high school, while providing new, distinct forms to define building entry and make it its own building and a place of student and community pride.
