Last month, our Baltimore team welcomed 30 local high school students for Design Discovery Day – an opportunity for students to learn about architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, planning, and graphic design.
Throughout the day, students completed challenges to assemble a palette of interior finish materials and plan a community, toured the Loyola University Donnelly Renovation/Addition construction site, and learned about HCM’s design disciplines in small-group breakout sessions.
When asked what their favorite part of Design Discovery Day was, students said:
“I really enjoyed when we had one on one time with the designers.”
“The hands-on parts, specifically making a board for the interior design of a room.”
“Everything! I did not want it to end. I wanted to see more and do more.”
Held regularly across several HCM offices, Design Discovery Day is a long-running program that seeks to inspire students in the cities and regions we work in to pursue careers in the design industry. We look forward to welcoming more students to our other HCM offices soon!
