Gary Prager is a principal in the Denver office of Hord Coplan Macht. With over 45 years of experience working on senior living projects across the nation, he has developed a thorough understanding of senior healthcare, memory care, assisted and independent and active adult living as well as age and income qualified multifamily planning and design.
Throughout his career he has worked with significant clients on both new and repurposed projects including MorningStar Senior Living, Casey’s Pond, and ManorCare’s Spring House & Sun Health’s SunBridge National prototypes. His knowledge has made him a highly regarded speaker, speaking at both local and national conference including LeadingAge, Environments for Aging, the Colorado Real Estate Journal Senior Living Summit, Housing Colorado and many more. Gary continues to push the envelope on understanding senior living design including urban design, empathic design and most recently, finding ways to design to help mitigate the impact of pandemics in senior living communities.
His experience has provided him a distinct insight into designing spaces that keep the user in mind. By placing himself as a user in the environments he designs, he has developed an in-depth Empathy Audit Assessment. This tool provides a unique opportunity for the design team, owners, and operators to see the building and building obstacles through the resident’s point of view.
