Vantage House has been providing housing and assisted-living services for the elderly since 1990. Their high-rise independent-living residence in Columbia, Maryland had not been renovated in more than 15 years. The 4.5 acre complex needed to be reshaped to include modern amenities and health services without expanding.
Hord Coplan Macht’s design team explored several strategic repositioning master plan options. Our team members had been involved previously in both the original design and past renovations. Hord Coplan Macht was selected to refine the master plan and develop the design accordingly.
This reinvention was confined to the “footprint” of the existing CCRC. The major design concepts were:
Creation of a new covered entry and “deep” vestibule and new reception area
Reinvented entry floor level with new market/café, library, fitness center, spa/salon, rehab center and sky-lit atrium “winter garden”
Renovated administration and marketing suite
Reinvented second floor dining venues including: bistro, pub, destination dining
Creation of 2 new 12-suite memory care households on fifth floor with new secured exterior garden courtyard
