University of Virginia

“creating a new neighborhood”

Converting surface parking lots and outdated residential buildings adjacent to the Central Grounds and the University of Virginia Health Systems campus, the new mixed-use neighborhood will transform this side of campus into a vibrant center with student housing, academic space, student services, and health system programs.  The master plan calls for extending the Jeffersonian planning principles the campus is well known for which will tie this new center back to its historic roots.  Given the nature of the uses, the project was initiated as a “P3 like”, UVA Foundation led process providing needed space and services on campus.
