HCM is providing design services for the replacement of the existing University of Maryland Hillel Center with a new 40,000 sf “signature” building adjacent in historic College Park.
Maryland Hillel Center provides all kosher food service for the students of the University of Maryland. The building is located adjacent to fraternity row and is designed to open up to the campus and serve as a beacon for student gathering and dining. A wood learning stair transitions students from one floor to another, while provided terrace seating. The dining hall includes multiple food venues including a “street front” café and outdoor dining that activates the immediate surroundings.
The center has been designed to provide “value added” elements beyond dining including social event gathering space, an instructional kitchen, garden serving the kitchen, collaborative study rooms and nooks, acapella room, multipurpose rooms and worship spaces.
