The Two Rivers Community School is a public charter school in Glenwood Springs, is a renovation of an existing 20,870 SF industrial building and a 8,500 SF multi-purpose room addition. The existing building was a previous Post Office Facility. The existing exterior architecture has been complimented with new concrete masonry and metal panel to create a contemporary school facility.
The interior was fully renovated to include Pre-k, Kindergarten, 13 general classrooms, Science and Art/maker space classrooms. The addition has a new entry and a new multipurpose room.
The design goals included integrating the existing architecture with new materials and creating a contemporary facility for the school. They also wanted a better definition of a main entry for the school with flexibility in the classrooms for a variety of teaching styles. An expanded playground space with improved parking/drop-off and improved mechanical and lighting systems were also design goals.
