The Ladrey

The Ladrey will replace the existing 11-story, 170-unit high rise building that houses primarily seniors and residents with disabilities. The new development will consist of a new mid-rise building to replace all the existing units and add a significant number of new affordable units for families who live and work in Alexandria. 

Located in Old Town North Alexandria, the site follows the city’s Small Area Plan, which includes provisions for enhanced green space, artist installations, and enhanced streetscape design. 

By including their adjoining property, ARHA was able to create a larger plot for the new project. Community amenities and improved accessibility were key priorities for the site. Working closely with residents and stakeholders, the design team created a plan to include underground parking, clinical offices, fitness space, and community room with kitchen, library and computer lab. Additional features include a rooftop amenity space, dedicated parking and drop-off area for seniors, and a private courtyard.
