Stargate School K-12 Campus

Stargate School currently operates a K-8 School in Thornton, Colorado with a focus on Gifted Learners. The school had a vision to add a high school and create a campus that would meet the needs of the students, staff and community.

The new campus is approximately 35 acres and includes a Secondary School for grades 6-12 and a Primary School for grades K-5. The campus also has a field house that houses the Secondary School gymnasium and support spaces. The site features include a Quad area between the Secondary and Primary schools, athletic and play fields, primary apparatus areas and adequate parking and drop off area for both schools.

The design of the new campus incorporates the following 21st Century Educational Design principles:

Variety of Learning Spaces – this includes break out areas and a variety of classroom spaces to meet the individual learning styles and needs of the students

Indoor /Outdoor Connection – there are multiple spaces that are designed with direct access to exterior spaces that encourage learning and interaction

Project Based Learning – a unique space called the Adroit room is designed into both schools to promote project-based and “hands on” learning. The Secondary School will also have a Maker Space area with an outdoor patio.

The design concept reflects the innovation of the school by using durable and long lasting materials in a contemporary design response.
