Hord Coplan Macht was contracted to provide design services for the proposed Merritt Office Building. The building is part of the Canton Crossing PUD, which is located South of Boston street and predominately commercial in nature. North of Boston Street is low to medium scale residential dwellings which vary from rowhouses to multi-family housing. The 454,960 sf building will be mixed-use office with 8,800 sf of first floor retail and structured parking garage with 538 spaces. Our main design goals are to provide an engaging and welcoming street-level environment to serve as a buffer between the higher speed highway nature of Boston Street and the first floor retail program of the building. Also, we want to provide a building massing which responds to the proposed density of the PUD, but it refined to stand alone and add to the character of the city skyline.
