Founded in 1852, Loyola University Maryland is a Jesuit university whose mission is to inspire students to learn, lead and serve in a diverse and changing world. For over a decade, Hord Coplan Macht has been the campus Landscape Architect, creating masterplans, site, and landscape designs.
Loyola University Maryland is an urban college campus located in the Guilford neighborhood of Baltimore City. Planning for the university’s continued growth while maintaining its close connection and good relations with the surrounding neighborhood are an ongoing and challenging balance.
Hord Coplan Macht has come to be part of the Loyola family, collaborating with academic faculty, administrative staff, facilities managers, building and grounds committees and students. We have facilitated communication between the University and its neighbors. Through sensitivity, listening and understanding, HCM has helped realize the University’s vision of a beautiful and safe environment for intellectual, physical and spiritual growth.
Projects include new construction and renovation of terraces and courtyards, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, streetscape, campus edges and gateways, signage and wayfinding, planting design and tree preservation.
Loyola University Maryland received the Presidential Award of Excellence from the ASLA for Loyola University Maryland: Gateway, Streetscape & Donnelly.
