Clovis Point is an 8.4 acre community of apartments and townhomes located in Longmont, Colorado. With over 200 units, a variety of tailored outdoor amenity spaces are crucial to the ultimate success of the development. A Scandinavian mountain-resort theme inspired the overall design and contemporary style of the outdoor amenities that serve as destinations for the residents. Larger gathering spaces include the ‘great lawn’ community park, swimming pool and spa, and fenced dog park with shade structure. Smaller, more intimate spaces include the pond water feature, playground, and fire pit terraces.
The amenity patio is a welcoming place for the community to congregate year-round, and includes a shaded outdoor kitchen with beverage dispenser, community dining patio, lounge seating around an indoor/outdoor fireplace, and an outdoor ping-pong table for active entertainment. The pool area invites activity for residents most of the year, and includes a spa, sun shelf in the pool, jet water feature, large custom shade structures, along with a matching custom steel fence surrounding the deck area. The ‘great lawn’ serves as a central gathering place for residents and is flexible and adaptable to a variety of group sizes and events during the day or night. A ribbon of trees and plantings encircle the lawn, buffering the surrounding buildings and adding visual interest. A high-mountain pond themed water feature provides a retreat from the rest of the site where circulating water, boulders, lush planting and a fire pit area create a distinct intimate experience. The playground includes a climbing boulder and play structures that encourage challenging play and movement, allowing children to build confidence. The play area is accompanied by a seating and dining terrace with a shade structure. The extensive planting palette throughout the site is comprised of a diverse range of species to provide seasonal color and texture year-round. In addition, site lighting was planned to provide safe and enjoyable evening experiences throughout the site.
