Arvada High School (Graphic Design)

Hord Coplan Macht provided integrated design services for the renovation of this existing high school in Arvada, Colorado, in a coordinated effort including architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and environmental graphic design. The school’s main circulation was redesigned to introduce small breakout areas, offering intimate pockets for social interaction, study, and collaboration among students. To accentuate these areas, the graphic design team created bold, brightly colored designs with inspirational phrases and words and imagery depicting nature elements local to the area. These graphics were embedded into a non-scratch wall panel system designed to withstand long-term wear and tear, ensuring that students will be able to enjoy them for years to come.

Outdoors, large-scale custom letters were designed to appear integrated into the bench seating in front of the school. In addition, the school mascot, a bulldog, is sandblasted within the seating, further creating a sense of place and identity for the school.
