Hord Coplan Macht (HCM) is pleased to welcome Zack Shankman as General Counsel. As a member of the leadership team, Shankman will serve as a company-wide resource, advising on strategies and their implementation, assisting with complex business transactions, and overseeing the firm’s risk profile.
“With three offices across the country and nearly 300 employees, it was time to bring on a trusted in-house advisor to lead the firm’s legal strategy,” Hord Coplan Macht CEO, Lee Coplan, said. “Zack’s presence has already made an impact and we look forward to having him as a resource as the firm continues to grow.”
A graduate with honors of both Georgetown University Law Center and Washington University in St. Louis, Shankman has spent much of his career in the financial industry, most recently as senior counsel at Brown Advisory in Baltimore after having worked in New York at Goldman Sachs and Davis Polk & Wardwell.
“Part of my interest in the position was the opportunity to add value by applying my experience in a broad capacity. I look forward to working with HCM’s many talented professionals, and alongside the leadership team, to help the firm achieve its goals,” Shankman said.
A musician in his spare time and a lifelong patron of the arts – including currently as a trustee of the Hippodrome Foundation – Shankman is also excited about working in a dynamic, creative atmosphere.
“When I first was introduced to the firm, I really connected with the culture. The people at HCM are passionate about what they do, and they work in an environment that nurtures their growth and makes them feel valued,” said Shankman.
