With the end of 2017 creeping closer, it’s only natural to reflect on all that’s happened in the last year. From starting new projects to celebrating our 40th anniversary, it’s been an incredible one for Hord Coplan Macht. We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of our employees, which is a theme you’ll see throughout everything we do, including this post. As we take a look back on the past 365 days and this milestone anniversary as a whole, we also recognize the need to look forward. There is so much on the horizon and we whole-heartedly recognize that every new opportunity is built on the last – and because of our people. So, as we prepare for the new year, take a look back at what you, our readers, have deemed our most popular blogposts of 2017.
This may look familiar to you; that’s because our Cool Box Feature Series was #1 on our list of top blogposts for 2016. It’s back for a second year in a row as one of the most popular blog series of 2017. For each feature, we interview an HCM team member and hear all about their experiences in their role at HCM, how they got here, and what they think are the next big trends in the industry. We value our people above all else, and this shows once again that our blog readers do too.
Earlier this year, we announced the hiring of a new principal, Mary Morissette, along with HCM’s new healthcare practice in Denver. In this post, we sat down with Mary to learn more about her (including her favorite shows. Spoiler alert: She’s on track to become a GoT super fan!) and what to expect from the new healthcare practice.
In celebration of our 40th anniversary, HCM launched a Day of Giving, in which team members could elect to donate a certain amount from their paychecks to a local charity. On top of their donation, HCM gave $40 – one dollar for each year of the firm’s existence – to that organization. It was a great initiative and we’re proud to have been a part of the success of so many different charities.
HCM started out the year with the addition of Chan Byun, AIA, LEED AP as Principal and Senior Designer in the Education Studio. In this Q&A, read about everything from Chan’s extensive background to what he brings to the table for HCM and our clients.
As you can see, HCM experienced an incredible amount of growth in 2017, including the addition of Kevin King, AIA, LEED AP as Principal in the Education Studio. In this post, we talked to Kevin about everything from the advice he’d give to budding architects to his personal motto and the unique qualities he brings to HCM.
This was just a snippet of what we’ve been up to over the last year, and we hope you continue to follow along on this amazing journey in the months and years ahead. A huge thank you to each and every one of you for helping us tell the stories that make us who we are. Our 40th anniversary year was truly one for the books, and we can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for us.
