Hord Coplan Macht is starting 2017 off on a high note, bringing veteran education designer Chan Byun, AIA, LEED AP on as Principal and Senior Designer in the education studio. As a leader in HCM’s higher education practice with 27 years of proven experience and a deep passion for design, Byun is a valuable addition to the HCM team. Learn a little more about him in this Q&A:
How does your wide range of experience align with your work at Hord Coplan Macht?
I have an extensive 27 years of experience with healthcare, education, and other institutional projects – 21 years of which were as Director of Design, developing design process and guidance that reinforced the culture.
I also nurtured many client relationships based on the design belief that each project merits its own eloquent solution, each unique to its own context. I have also had proven success through a comprehensive and thoughtful analysis of the client’s mission, values, and goals, plus keen collaboration with all members of the team.
What’s one thing you’d want your new clients to know about you?
That I have true passion for design by leveraging all creative potentials and overcoming obstacles in projects across a wide array of markets and building types.
I am here to help, learn, teach, and be an integral part of the effort to get HCM where it wants to be in the next 10 years.
What unique opportunities are you looking to leverage at HCM?
HCM and its people have a breadth of experience and knowledge in Housing, K-12, Higher Education, and Healthcare market sectors. I’d like to leverage our expertise to help pursue a variety of exciting new clients and projects in Higher Education and Healthcare. I’d also like to assist teams across the firm generate peer-recognized projects to continue to elevate HCM’s brand in the industry.
With this addition to an already diverse and robust team, 2017 will no doubt be a record year for Hord Coplan Macht.
