Another Year Around the Sun: The Best of HCM in 2016

As the year comes to a close, it’s natural to reflect back on the highlights here at our firm over the past 365 days. At Hord Coplan Macht, we believe that each one of those days tells an important part of our success story. It doesn’t stop there either; 2017 marks our 40th anniversary and we plan to keep building off the successes of 2016 to continue to learn, advance, and do great work for our clients in 2017 and beyond.

In the spirit of reflection, here are our top 5 blog posts that you helped make the most popular of the year:

  1. The Cool Box Feature Series

While not technically one specific blog, this series that highlights some of the people and personalities of HCM proved to be some of the most popular and engaging content of the year.

  1. Wellness That Works: An Inside Look Into HCM’s Wellness Initiatives

When a firm strives to design buildings that help the people in it live better lives, it only makes sense that we embrace that thinking for our staff as well. That’s why we introduced Wellness Committees in our Baltimore and Denver offices to help our staff to not only get moving, but to ultimately become better architects too.

  1. Learning Space Design for the Ethnically Diverse Undergraduate Classroom

Examining how the design of physical learning spaces contributes to enhanced learning outcomes for diverse groups of students, “Learning Space Design for the Ethnically Diverse Undergraduate Classroom” was HCM’s most popular white paper in 2016.

  1. Jeffco Public Schools (CO) Breaks Ground on New K-8 School

HCM broke ground on a new K-8 school at Candelas in Arvada, CO this year, marking Jeffco Public Schools’ first new construction project in the past 10 years. Big news for Jeffco Public Schools and Hord Coplan Macht.

  1. Find Your Balance, Grow Your Skills. Life at Hord Coplan Macht

What’s it like to work at HCM? We decided to ask our staff for a first-hand look into life at Hord Coplan Macht. From company culture to work-life balance, they sure had a lot to say.

Each year is another opportunity to learn, grow, and tackle challenging and innovative work for our clients. We are so thankful for each and every one of those opportunities – and we can’t wait to see what the next 365 days have to offer.
