This session, given at the 2011 CEFPI Regional Conference, explores how Dorchester County, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, was faced with the task of attempting to align their career technology education with their outdated “vo-tech” facility.  The district was already embracing 21st century learning strategies, but was frustrated by how the existing facility limited what they could do.  Through careful planning that actively engaged educators, administrators, researchers, students, parents, business partners and facility experts, Dorchester embarked upon an odyssey to re-invent career technology education in the County.  By truly embracing the new “3 R’s” of 21st century learning, Dorchester County has created a vibrant and exciting place where curriculum and the learning environment truly align.
