Project Overview:
William Scotsman, in conjunction with Protech Builders, Inc., engaged Hord Coplan Macht to begin development of a modular MRI suite prototype.
The MRI unit -- comprised of the scan, control and equipment rooms -- is the basic building block of the suite.
The unit “plugs” into an administrative module which acts as a hub/manifold with the scalable option of additional MRI units or other modalities in several different configurations either at initial delivery or over time. The manifold unit manages safety concerns with clearly delineated zones while facilitating patient and staff flow.
The entire suite can function as a hospital addition or a stand-alone imaging facility.
Sustainable strategies are embodied in the re-locatable and reusable aspect of the facility and the use of environmentally sensitive materials and finishes throughout.
Daylighting and passive heating/cooling strategies are maximized with site specific configurations.
