Angelos Lung Center, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center

Peter Angelos, a prominent local Maryland attorney and majority owner of the Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball franchise, donated $2.5 million to Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center. According to the Hospital’s website, this was the single largest donation in the institution’s 120-year history.

The 2,500 sf building offers comprehensive care from a team experienced doctors from diverse specializations.
The Angelos Center for Lung Diseases is an extension of the Franklin Square Medical Center that adds a specialized practice in lung care. Through the addition of a new entrance to the existing Cancer Center, the Lung Center is designed as a dedicated space for diagnosis, treatment, and continuing care related to respiratory functions.

With the Angelos project, we were challenged to create a space that fosters both medical excellence and a soothing environment. The design process started in October of 2013 with the goal creating an advanced medical facility that would allow multiple disciplines to be housed in one central location.

The Center involved the renovation of existing outpatient spaces to create a unique environment where patients and families will see practitioners and begin a course of treatment as part of a full service medical facility.
