Hord Coplan Macht Team Selected to Design $82 Million High School Project
BALTIMORE– February 7, 2011 – Hord Coplan Macht and Delaware architecture firm, ABHA Architects, are pleased to announce to announce the completion of the schematic design phase for a new, 280,000 sf, $82 million, high school for the Capital School District in Delaware. The 1,800-student Dover High School is one of the largest publicly funded projects in Delaware history.
The three-story high school will include an academic wing, a large common dining space, an 1,110-seat theater, a 2,500-seat multipurpose gymnasium, a 5,000-seat football stadium complex, and eight tennis courts. In addition, the design will feature a significant emphasis on the use of natural light and the creation of meaningful outdoor learning environments.
Sustainable design is of paramount importance to the Capitol School District, to the surrounding community, and to the designers. The building is therefore being designed to achieve LEED for Schools certification.
