Hord Coplan Macht / Freelon to Design $65 Million Building for University of Maryland Eastern Shore
BALTIMORE– September 21, 2011 – – Hord Coplan Macht, in joint venture with The Freelon Group, has been selected to design a new Engineering, Aviation, Computer, and Mathematical Sciences building for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The $65 million, 163,350 GSF building will house several academic and administrative programs and will incorporate an architectural expression reflective of the mission, heritage, and traditions of this growing teaching, research, and doctoral institution.
UMES has experienced regular and significant growth in recent years, particularly in graduate programs, and this new project is a key component of their 10-year master plan. Additionally, the building will further the University’s strong commitment to sustainability, and is expected to obtain LEED Certification at the Gold level.
